“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” These words spoken by Eleanor Roosevelt have inspired Amanda Tempel to follow her dreams. One of her greatest dreams came true on October 10, 2009 when she was crowned Miss Ohio USA 2010 at the Vern Riffe Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Amanda was representing her hometown of St. Bernard and it was her first attempt at the title.

The 20 year old is a 2008 graduate of Roger Bacon High School. Amanda attended her first semester of college at Kent State University majoring in Fashion Merchandising then transferred to The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash where she is majoring in Pre-Business.

In Amanda’s spare time she coaches the St. Clement track team and involved with The Girls On The Run Program. A program designed to help pre-teen girls learn about healthy eating habits, staying active, and respecting themselves. Amanda also loves to shop (which she says she gets from her dad), spend time with her family, reading, traveling, and of course running and working out. “I absolutely love to run! I have been a competitive runner for the past 8 years and will continue. You feel so good about yourself after working out, a feeling that you’ve accomplished so much!” A couple of goals for Amanda are to run a half marathon in every state and run a full marathon by the time she graduates college.

Amanda feels so blessed to have won the title of Miss Ohio USA 2010. “This is a dream come true for me and 2010 is going to be the greatest year of my life! I am so happy to make so many people apart of this journey. Everyone has showed me such great support, especially my mom Stevie. I hope to represent Ohio to the best of my ability and make everyone proud!” The one thing Amanda wants everyone to remember is to never give up on your dreams and that with a little patience and hard work you can do whatever you put your mind to!
